This device allows to connect devices equipped with RS232 or RS422/485 interface with an ethernet network. It can be used in all those cases where it is necessary to remote a serial port using the existing network cabling and TCP/IP protocol, the new resource thus added can be shared by computers connected to the network through a special COM virtualization driver (Virtual COM).

The watchdog circuit allows the device to automatically recover states of malfunction. The Heart Beat function ensures reliable communication.

The device is equipped with Ethernet I/F on RJ45 connector, DB9M (DTE) connectors for RS232/422/485 I/F connection. The converters are also equipped with surge protection on RS422/485 interface.

The power supply can be supplied either through removable terminals or through standard 12Vdc adapter (2.1mm jack).

These converters operate in "Direct IP Mode", "Virtual COM Mode", and "Paired Mode". They have one or two synchronous serial ports on DB-9 connector. The Ethernet port selects itself in 10BaseT or 100BaseTX mode. The devices are also equipped with a Heart Beat function to ensure a reliable connection.

The "TRPCOM" utility can be used to test loopback devices.

Configuration can be performed using the TRP-C3X Device Server Manager (DSM) program, or via a standard web brwser, thanks to the integrated web server.
The TRP-C3X DSM allows various functions:

  • Searching for TRP-C3Xs connected to the network
  • Viewing and Changing the TRP-C3X Configuration
  • Device firmware upgrade
  • Saving and loading configuration files

An adapter is optionally available to allow DIN rail mounting (See figure).
