The SHV1 flood detector/level sensor consists of stainless steel sensing electrodes and a polyamide head containing the control electronics.

The device is available in two variants: relay output or static output (open collector).
The presence of the supply voltage and the status of the relay (or static) output are indicated by a green LED. Fault status (formation of a conductive connection between the electrodes) is indicated by a red LED inside the box and the change of state of the output (or static) relay.
Selection of the output operating mode (closed or open with wet electrodes) is made by jumper on the PCB. All metal parts are made of DIN 1.430 stainless steel, the basic length of the sensing electrodes is 50 mm. Power cables are connected to the terminal board via feedthroughs, forming part of the plastic header.

The flood detector works on the principle of the different conductivity of air and water. Water becomes conductive to a certain extent due to mineral and organic substances dissolved in it.
Under normal conditions (rainwater), it has a conductivity of 5 mS/m or higher. This value is also reflected in the sensor sensitivity setting by a margin (less than 1 mS/m).
Once the electrodes are connected by a conductive medium, current (on the order of μA) begins to flow through the circuit and is then detected by the control electronics. This results in activation of the output transistor (open collector) or closing/opening of the relay contacts.

The flood detector/level sensor signals fault conditions associated with water leakage in industrial plants, rooms, offices or production halls in the temperature range of 0 to 80 °C. The sensor meets IP 65 according to EN 60 529 and fulfills the conditions for operation in a normal non-aggressive environment.
The method of use should be chosen taking into account the temperature resistance of the sensor head and the chemical resistance of the sensor housing and head.

  • Turning off pumps when a required level is reached
  • Detection of building flooding from groundwater, flooding, wastewater
  • Well flooding detection, pump activation when a certain level is reached
  • Indication of water leakage from washing machines, boilers, pump units, etc.
  • Room flooding detection in case of various equipment failures: broken toilet water supply line, overflowing bathtub, sink
  • Monitoring of condensation in ventilation ducts
