Backup-Restore functionality on controllers SlimLine
The SlimLine series PLCs are now equipped with the functionality Backup-restore.
Starting with firmware release SFW198E000 (included in the PCK051B000 distribution) all CPU SlimLine based on Cortex M7 processors will be equipped with the Backup-Restore.
This function facilitates maintenance of installed devices by less experienced personnel and/or those not equipped with programming tools (PC with development tools).
How does the backup data/programme?
From Telnet commands, or through the utility Toolly, you can back up to removable media (SDCard and/or USB PenDrive), inserted in the device to be backed up. If you choose to save to the backupin addition to the PLC program, the operating system, backup data and configuration, you get a full system restore image.
How does the restore data/programme?
Simply by inserting the removable media (SDCard and/or USB PenDrive) created with the Backup in the system switched off, the first time it is switched on, the restore.
Benefits of functionality backup & restore
The availability of advanced backup & restore allows a number of advantages:
- Operation of Restore automatic
Simply insert the Backup into the system and turn it on, and the system executes the Restore and restarts reconfigured to the saved situation. The simplicity of this operation allows it to be carried out by anyone, no need for qualified personnel. - Backup complete system
Possibility of creating a full system restore imagenot only of the PLC program but also of the operating system, the backup and configuration. This allows, in the event of a failure, to completely reconfigure a new system. Thus, a single stock ensures the maintenance of several systems by removing compatibility problems. - Use of standard removable media (SDCard, USB PenDrive)
It allows the transfer of backup copies on PC for easy archiving. In case of programme changes you can digitally send copies of backup to your customers by allowing you to easily update the system.
